Bean's Time
Since Potato's been gone, Bean has been getting extra attention. We use a pee pad, so he can stay out of the cage longer, sometimes more than an hour, and multiple times a day. He's been watching movies, playing games, and he even helped decorate the Christmas tree... From inside his cuddly pigloo on the floor next to it, of course.
Bean never wanted to be the alpha pig, but now he has to be. Loneliness can be a real problem for a single guinea pig. Bean is doing ok with all this human attention, but at the end of the holiday break we won't be able to spend as much time with him. Currently we're looking into getting him a same-age buddy from a rescue. But if that doesn't work out, we're not sure what we'll do. Either way, it may take some time, so I will update here in the comic eventually.
In the meantime, I still have about two months of buffer comics, where Potato and Bean will continue their adventures. Potato was healthy seeming and energetic right up until his last days, so they still have several stories to tell. After that, we shall see. Will I finally figure out a way to bring the comic to its conclusion, with Bean wheeking off into the sunset? Or will Bean's internet adventures continue with one or more new cage mates? We'll just have to wait and see.
