There is No Corner
Guinea pig eyes are designed to look up and out, to better protect themselves from predators. In fact they have nearly 360 degree vision all around them. The disadvantage is they can't really look down, especially at the ground right in front of them. That short furry nose is in the way. But Fuzzy usually remembers right where he left some food, even if he can't look down to see it. He walks over near where he left it, then sniffs or whiskers the ground until he finds it.
I found out, if I take away his frame of reference, though, by lifting the things out of the cage, that can confuse him. He can become completely convinced he left his food at a very specific spot just three inches from where it's actually sitting. And when he doesn't find it there, he gets upset.
